Cold
Alex: Again, a simple song, simple concept. The memory here is from when I was in college at Boston University. It looked so brilliantly sunny outside, with a beautiful blue sky, but when I got out there, I froze my ass off. So just a metaphor for things that seem great from a distance, but sorta suck when you get in close contact.
The song composition is typical Alex style. There are like 10 guitars in there all doing different things. If you haven’t noticed yet, I LOVE to layer guitars. I originally also had violins crescendo’ing over the top, but it was honestly just too much.
Peeling the skin off an orange
I come unraveled again
Drowning in the noise
Of everyone doin’ useless chores
Crushed by the weight of her saying bye
I guess it was wrong for me to try
Yeah
When I walk outside it’s so damn sunny
But I’m as cold as the snow beneath my feet
When I walk outside it’s so damn sunny
But I’m as cold as the snow beneath my feet
When I walk outside it’s so damn sunny
But I’m as cold as the snow beneath my feet
My problems follow me like a dog
They want me to give in
Open doors to leave
Unaware of the traps out there
Crushed by the weight of her saying bye
I guess it was wrong for me try
To try
Yeah
Keep ending up here
Losing my patience
When I walk outside it’s so damn sunny
But I’m as cold as the snow beneath my feet
When I walk outside it’s so damn sunny
But I’m as cold as the snow beneath my feet
When I walk outside it’s so damn sunny
But I’m as cold as the snow…
